Don’t just aspire to make a living. Aspire to make a difference – Denzel Washington
Those are powerful words.
Maybe like me, you’ve received both messages from well-meaning parents: “get a job” and “always do the best you can.”
When they urged me to do better, they pulled out of me abilities that I didn’t know I had. In everything I did, I was urged to make a difference – no matter what the outcome.
But making a living is more like a passive response – you job makes demands that you fulfill and you don’t necessarily grow from that experience.
As we head into a new year, I invite you, chef, to stop working for a living. No matter how humble your job or however big the title you aspire to, work only to make a difference.
