discomfort

I’m grateful to the teachers I’m currently studying with for what is my new motto: being comfortable with the uncomfortable.

When you’re firmly focussed in one direction, you have to let go of fighting every fire around you. You have to walk away from that argument, forgive someone’s mistake, not lose your cool over a complaint, not fix every problem.

But there’s a subtle distinction I want to highlight: this is not about ignoring a physical injury through one more shift, but about choosing when and what to react to. The easy way out might be to explode in reaction or get busy and fix things.

But today I invite you to climb to a higher place. Hold onto yourself, chef, without giving pieces of you away. Embrace the uncomfortable situation with grace, without reacting or responding.
