Take a few minutes to think about this: who will you be when you achieve your goal?
New head chef? A better mother and wife? Improved marathon runner? Extremely satisfied that you could fund the holiday of your dreams?
Take the time to think about who you are growing into. What’s different about that person and who you are currently? The trick is to assume that role now. Not when you get to your destination.
If you’re looking to lead a kitchen, be the chef that helps everyone keep their head in a crisis. You’ll have to do lots of that as a leader. If you’re looking for a higher score in your family life, be present at home with your loved ones.
Do this, chefs: every single day, be a little more of who you will be when you have achieved the goal.
