Here’s the truth, chef: if work life integration itself feels like a lot of work on top of your shifts in the kitchen, then let me assure you that it is. Not only have we become more complex individuals in pursuit of more for our lives, but we’re also faced with more distractions than any generation in history.

This means that we’ve lost touch with what we need to bring balance into our lives. What’s needed at the end of every shift is a brief reflection on how it all went, what could go better, etc. and then to let it go, so our bodies can shift gear into recovery. But what often brings closure to our days now is the high from Instagram likes or good customer reviews.

We’ll never get the rest we need if we never ‘leave’ work in the first place, right, chef?
