Even with the opportunities we get to enjoy today, many women in our industry are still made to feel like they do not belong. That they are more of a liability than an asset to the team. That they and their work are somehow ‘less than’.

We might know what the real truth is, but when faced with a judgement of who you are and how you perform, your natural reaction is to push harder. To not be seen as someone who deserves that judgement. You feel you can never stop proving yourself, because to take your foot off the gas would mean being judged all over again.

Somewhere along the way, you can forget how to relax. How to let your guard down. How to be at ease with yourself.

This then impacts the rest you get to enjoy in your personal time.

We can and must heal that imposed sense of not belonging, so that we rightfully own our place in the industry. And more importantly, fully own who we are, so we can freely share our gifts with the world.

If you can relate to this, I invite you to join Love Letters to Chefs on the 7th of March for the IWD workshop for women in Hospitality. You can book your place here. Please also share with your friends and colleagues who will value this.
