In an intensely stressful and busy period, there can also be more conflict on your team. There are things you can do to avoid it, but personalities will clash and more often than not, someone will bring negative energy into the kitchen that affects everyone. In these moments, it can be really hard to see them for who they really are, let alone forgive them.
But if someone brings conflict to the table, then they’re also probably facing a conflict within themselves. And sometimes you just have to accept that their current behaviour as separate from their identity. See them in their true light just for the moment. Even if that approach doesn’t bring peace to your work environment, at least it diffuses the effect their energy has on you. And they get to move through their difficulty as and when they should.
So chef, let’s begin to accept each other not only for our uniqueness, but also where we are on our journeys.
