do-less

It’s not always that we need to do more but rather that we need to focus on less – Nathan W Morris

This morning I had to mend some clothes and it took me a while. I can sew, but not well enough to achieve a neat result. About halfway into the job I felt the sense of urgency: I should be writing a post now, I have to lots to get done, etc. It didn’t really help. I had to stay focussed on what I was doing to finish it, before jumping onto the next thing.

Sometimes it’s the ‘musts’ and ‘shoulds’ that throw our lives out of balance. It’s a good idea to stop and reflect: where does this come from? Are you restless on your days off because it feels alien to not have some kind of obligations imposed on you?

Do this today: choose the obligations that really matters to you, chef.
