joy

During my morning walk today I experienced pure joy – for no reason. As I let myself experience it fully, I realised that in that moment, I was really happy and I expressed it with a big smile, although only trees and birds surrounded me.

Immediately in my head came the thoughts – how can I be happy when I still haven’t done this, and I need that, etc. But  the truth was that my happiness was unconditional and I let myself enjoy that moment.

Do we ever treat ourselves to fully feeling joy? Even if we want to, someone else comes along to squash your enthusiasm. I’ve personally experienced that in the kitchen – as if there’s room for nothing else but stress, urgency, busyness.

Let yourself be happy if and when you want to, chef. Maybe you’re in love, maybe you’ve got promoted or you’ve paid off your debt. Maybe you just love what you do.

Treat yourself.

Treat yourself to joy
