stuck

This is for those occasions when you want to go after your dreams but find an inner resistance that’s preventing you from taking action. Because sometimes even knowing your why, knowing what you have to do, or even knowing what reward awaits you isn’t enough to spur you on. We’re human, and it’s totally natural to go through these periods of disconnection. After all, it’s easier to stay safe and play small. It’s going after the goal that requires a lot of energy.

But when you really require motivation, take a minute to think beyond the immediate moment. For now, sure, that draining job or relationship, just getting by financially, those annoying but non-threatening bouts of ill-health can be overlooked. But what about long-term? Can you stop for a moment to picture the consequences of not moving forward with what you really want for your life? Feel into that scenario. Feel in your gut the cost of staying stuck.

What else comes up? The anger at whatever or whoever is controlling your situation? The revulsion you feel for yourself for not taking action? Helplessness? Do you also hear that voice inside of you that’s now saying, “Enough, no more”?

This is reward that comes out of this exercise: rather than feel overpowered by what’s running your life now, a real shift occurs when you get clear on what you are now no longer willing to tolerate. And that’s what fuels you to go after your goal. Even when the going gets tough. And that makes all the difference!
