Even though you’ve set strong intentions for the year, are you finding that instead of forging ahead, you’re being pushed and pulled by what’s around you? This has been my experience: it’s not yet about the big plans for 2018, but just realising that there are many things I’m going to have to let go of in order to get anywhere.

Sometimes this is what’s true for us, to pare down our lives to just our goals and what’s essential. Shutting out distractions helps conserve valuable energy that helps us move out of our current level.

It’s not easy to do without feeling guilty about what you’re leaving behind. But it’s a temporary situation. If you really feel called to chase your dreams this year, give yourself the permission to do it, chef. But it all starts with having a singular focus.
