For all the drama in our kitchens, there’s an amazing sense of family, of kinship that exists amongst chefs working on the same team. You don’t feel alone in all those hours you spend at work. Wouldn’t you agree, chef?
But it’s not everyone who gets to experience that fully. There is quite often someone who feels left out, feels misunderstood or judged. It might be the new employee who hasn’t yet learnt the ways of the kitchen. Or the apprentice who’s never held a job before. Maybe it’s someone going through a personal crisis who can’t reach out for help.
Today, can you be the person who draws them in? Making them feel comfortable and part of the family? No matter what your job title is or what your relationship with them is, can you make them feel welcome on the team, chef?
