When life gets out of balance (as it probably will over the next few weeks), the best gift you can give yourself is to structure your self-care. Be fastidious about it. Get those few hours of sleep, even though you want to stay and chat after service. Check-in with family even when you know you can give them only a fraction of your time. Check-in with you and give yourself a pep talk if you need it.
Because it’s easy to want to do something, but when you’re in a service profession, let’s face it, you put yourself last. When you structure your self-care routine, you make space for you. And that will only add to your ability to serve this Christmas.
